Shifted in Seattle by Lisa Medley ♥ Book Tour, Review & GIVEAWAY ♥ (Paranormal Romance)

No one's ever captured a Sasquatch.

Until now.

Sasquatches have roamed the Pacific Northwest for centuries, hiding in the wilds of the northern territories and protected by the Lummi nation.

When Seattle author Ethan Lane’s secret is exposed after a first date with Ruby Parsons goes wonderfully right, then horribly wrong, he’s faced with betraying his clan or losing his only chance at true love and a normal life.

Sometimes love gets hairy.

What a cool book!

I was beyond curious about this one. Wolf shifters? Dime a dozen. Sasquatch shifters? Nope, not a one I've ever read!

I enjoyed the characters of Ethan and Ruby, but I loved Ruby's friend, Claire. (She needs her own story with Jacob!) Claire was a spitfire in every sense of the word, and I got a kick out of her.

Lisa did an amazing job putting a unique spin on a very real question that hangs out there; Does Bigfoot exist? What if other mythical creatures also exist in a similar shape-shifter capacity? The Happy For Now ending definitely made me go "hmmm..."

♥ Her feet hurt.  Her head hurt.  And a man was bleeding in the passenger seat.  This was what she got for dating.

A friend indeed… excerpt: This is right before the big date!

Ruby finished the last paragraph of The Call of Cthulhu on her phone then reread it once more. She’d reread it each of the past three nights like she was cramming for finals. One passage stood out to her. “Who knows the end? What has risen may sink, and what has sunk may rise. Loathsomeness waits and dreams in the deep and decay spreads over the tottering cities of men.”

Right. The perfect romance-inspiring fiction to bond over. Clearly, they were a match made in Heaven.

Crap.

“Quit making that face,” Claire said, pulling up to the curb in front of the theater.

“I can’t. I’m nervous.”

“Then let me come with you, like I promised.”

Ruby shook her head then stuffed her phone into her tiny purse. “No. I can do this. It’s a public place. Look, there’s a line already. I’ll be fine.”

“At intermission, you go to the bathroom and text me an update. I want to know how it’s going. Text me again at eleven, when it’s over. I’ll come get you then or, if you want to go out for drinks or something, I’ll pick you up there. Do not get into a car with him, though. Do you understand?”

Ruby sighed. “Now you’re concerned?”

“Cautiously optimistic and 78 percent sure he’s not a serial killer.”

“That’s a much lower percentage than you stated earlier. You’re not helping.”

“I’m kidding.” Claire unlocked the car doors. “Promise about the texting. I’m fifteen minutes away. Don’t make me put your face on a milk carton. I’ll use the one I took after you pulled your stocking cap off after skiing at Snoqualmie.”

“That’s low.”

“These are serious times. The stakes are high.”

Lisa has always enjoyed reading about monsters in love and now she writes about them, because monsters need love too.

She adores beasties of all sorts, fictional as well as real, and has a farm full of them in her Southwest Missouri home, including: one child, one husband, two dogs, two cats, a dozen hens, thousands of Italian bees, and a guinea pig.

She may or may not keep a complete zombie apocalypse bug-out bag in her trunk at all times, including a machete. Just. In. Case.

Michelle Griep's The Captive Heart ~ Reviewed

The Captive Heart
Michelle Griep
Paperback: 320 pages
Publisher: Shiloh Run Press; Gld edition (October 1, 2016)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 1634097831

Description:

Proper English governess Eleanor Morgan flees to the colonies to escape the wrath of a brute of an employer. When the Charles Town family she’s to work for never arrives to collect her from the dock, she is forced to settle for the only reputable choice remaining to her—marriage to a man she’s never met. Trapper and tracker Samuel Heath is a hardened survivor used to getting his own way by brain or by brawn, and he’s determined to find a mother for his young daughter. But finding a wife proves to be impossible. No upstanding woman wants to marry a murderer.

Review:

Michelle Griep knows how to get a reader's attention from page one. We open the page to find Eleanor panicked over the worst of scenarios. She has stepped well over her position and is going to pay a consequence she cannot afford. The lesser of two evils is thrown at her like a rope to a drowning woman and she grasps hold. This rope takes her to an unknown land across a foreboding body of water and a journey through a near hell in the belly of a ship.

When she arrives her placement evaporates and she is quickly joined in marriage to a frightening man. An angry half-wild man who is looking for a mother for his child, nothing more. Bound by societal rules she has no choice but to go with him to the virtual wilderness. Only trained to be a governess she has no training in cooking, or even the proper clothing.

As the plot thickens, Samuel's truth is slowly revealed, as are his enemies. Eleanor is forced to protect Samuel's child from new-to-Eleanor terrors and she has to face the possibility that this little one might need protection from her own father.

Griep can write a beast of a bad guy. Whew. And she always manages to torture her heroes. I'm not even kidding you. Every one of her novels there is a secondary character who gets a royal beating at best, or a tragic death at worst. This one is no different. People die in Griep's novels, yet it is impossible for me not to finish one.

I loved a couple of story line's that were nice little teasers and sure hope their stories end up being shared in future books. If you love historical romance this little gem is right up your alley. Especially if you don't mind a dead character or two. Shoot. Maybe I don't want her to write the other stories, more people will die, and the townsfolk are pretty charming.

Melting Steel by C.M. Seabrook ❤️ New Release Spotlight, Review & GIVEAWAY ❤️ (Contemporary Romance)

Keeley

I know his type. Stuck up. Arrogant. The kind of guy who hasn’t had to work for a damn thing his entire life. Even his name, Henry Caldwell III, reeks of privilege.

And me? Well, let’s just say I come with more baggage than a 747 and enough bullsh*t to fuel it.

The problem is I want him. Crave him. It’s the kind of pure, all-consuming, panty-soaking lust that can make a girl forget why she swore off men to begin with.

He thinks I need saving. But this isn’t a Cinderella story, and he’s no Prince Charming. At least not mine. I learned long ago that trusting any man with my heart isn’t just dangerous – it can be deadly.

Henry

Emotionally crippled, smart-mouthed, and sexy as sin, the woman is nothing I need and everything I want.

Despite her hard edges, tattoos, and reckless spirit, I know she craves more. More from life, more from love, more from me.

She thinks I’m just a trust fund brat and maybe she’s right. But I’ve got secrets of my own. I know what darkness is. I’ve lived it – faced the pit of hell and barely survived.

The question is, am I strong enough to face it again? Because if I’m ever going to break through the steel wall she’s placed around her heart, it’ll mean facing demons we both thought were long dead and buried.

Heroes do exist!

This whole book was balanced perfectly; each character and each scenario was clearly comprised of good and bad and one side contrasted beautifully with the other, adding light to the darkness and vice versa.

Henry was quite the hero! He was the kind of guy who would run head-first into danger to save the woman he loves. And he did. But I'm not spoiling anything for you! Let's just say that he's the perfect book-boyfriend if you like your damsels saved by their heroes. Which I do :)

Keeley was no pushover, though. The cards were stacked against her, but she kept on, trying to do the right thing and make the best of it. She had some major trust issues, but hey, who wouldn't in her situation.

I loved how Keeley and Henry had sort of a history together, and they were unknowingly so influential in each others' lives.

The suspense in this one was really something....I did NOT see the final showdown coming, and it made for quite an ending!

All in all, another great book by C.M., and I am ABSOLUTELY ecstatic to read what she writes next!

♥ The logical part of my brain reminds me that I barely know her, that she isn't my responsibility.  But the Neanderthal part beats its chest, ready to threaten anyone who dares threaten her.  (Henry)

♥ Twenty years ago I gave her something I've never given another woman - my vow.  It may have been spoken with a child's voice, but it's the man's heart that will honor it now.  (Henry)

♥ "Your future is here."  He takes my hand and places it over his heart...  (Keeley)

Mackenzie Brooks is everything I've ever wanted.

Three years ago, she walked out of my life. No explanation. Just gone.

With the biggest fight of my career only weeks away, she walked back in.

I'll do anything to protect her. Destroy anyone who tries to hurt her. When it comes to Mac, there isn't a line I won't cross.

I've loved her my entire life, and now that's she's back I won't let her go.

She refuses to speak about the past, or the secrets I know she's hiding.

I know she's planning on running again. But when you love someone, you stay and fight. Even if you're fighting blind.

Sexy. Suspenseful. Emotional. Phenomenal!!!

This book had the smoldering tension of a contemporary romance yet the angst of a romantic suspense, both balanced perfectly to make a great story.

I loved how Mackenzie and Theo had a backstory; best friends for years and years. The growing feelings they had for each other over those years was so endearing, and while the culmination of said feelings on that one fateful night wasn't the ideal expression of feelings, the result bound them together in a way that could not have been more perfect. (I'm being vague, I know. No spoilers!!!)

The story flowed smoothly, and I really was rooting for Mac. She wasn't dealt a fair hand, and I was eager to see how that got resolved. And, boy, was I NOT expecting that! All in all, this was a fantastic read that I couldn't put down, and I will ABSOLUTELY read more books by C.M.!
