Jenn is a novelist and photographer born, raised and living in the lee of the great Rocky Mountains. Her illustrated Novel THE RAKE AND THE RECLUSE was originally released in February of 2011 to rave reviews and snarky comments. She recently revised the entire novel, turning it into a six-part serial with all new material and the never before released story of Perry, The Rake.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! I’m not sure what to say but what I already said because I’m not sure you’ll start here or there!! ;) So here we go again...feel free to skip my maundering and get to the love if you like.
I have to say my holidays have changed over the years, of course as a kid it was Christmas, and then when I first had my girls it was Easter because it’s spring and the egg hunt and pretty dresses and the rest.
But these days my favorite holiday is Valentine’s Day because I just love LOVE. And it isn’t just a couples day, it’s a day to celebrate everyone you love, we’re taught that in elementary school when we make little fancy bags and boxes and are told by our teachers to bring Valentines for everyone in the class, even the boys that pull your pigtails on the playground.
Well, the tables are turned as you grow up and while nobody is pulling my pigtails, I do still love sharing Valentines with everyone. So here is my Valentine for all of you. A very special one, from Perry to his lady love. I can’t tell you her name, it has been a closely guarded secret, but TODAY that secret is out inSUBMISSION : The Rake And The Recluse : Part Five!!!
I’m very excited because this has been a long road to SUBMISSION. I won’t talk about it too much, but my novel THE RAKE AND THE RECLUSE came out last February, and now it has been completely re-edited, with all new content and images (it is illustrated) and the final chapters including Perry’s Story.
You will find links and fun stuff...later, let’s get to the letter!!
The Love Letter:
My Lord Perry,
As you have requested, I am practicing my written communication by writing to you. Though I do not see it as a chore, it does seem to be a bit troublesome, as I have difficulty finding words for you even without a quill.
I cannot imagine my life without you. The day I crawled into your carriage and escaped my past was the day that changed the path of my life. If there had not been you, there would not be me.
As you can readily see, I practice every single day, I want you to be proud of me. More than that I want people to see past who I am; to see who you really are and what it is you have truly accomplished. I do not want to be your tarnish.
I wish to rub you clean, to shine you, so that no one who sees you will be left in doubt as to how well polished a man you are. You are brave and strong, and so very...very.
You know I have difficulties still, with this...but I practice. And I love you. For who you are, for who you were, for who you are becoming. I have to love your past for if it weren’t so, there would never have been us. As well, it has given you certain talents that I would prefer to not go without.
So today I say yes to your proposal, we shall lock ourselves away and not listen to the pounding on the door, or the complaints of your staff. Today we will shut away and I will learn from you, whatever you have to teach me. I believe you had a few more things to show me concerning your cravat, and those brackets on your headboard.
With my deepest regards, Your Viscountess

Caroline Linden knew from an early age she was a reader, but not a writer. Despite an addiction to Trixie Belden and Nancy Drew, she studied physics and dreamed of being an astronaut. She earned a math degree from Harvard College and then wrote software for a financial services firm, all the while reading everything in sight, but especially romance. Only after she had children, and found herself with only picture books to read, did she begin to make up a story of her own. To her immense surprise, it turned out to be an entire novel--and it was much more fun than writing computer code. Seven years, eight books, two Red Sox championships, and on dog later, she has never been happier with her decision. She lives with her family in New England.
Beloved Francesca, Should you fear I will never know the depths of your love, set your mind at ease. There is no depth, no height, no distance to the love I have for you; it is boundless and inexhaustible, waxing and never waning. If your feelings were only half as deep I should count myself the most fortunate of men. To know your love equals my own brings me to my knees.
Your letter is tucked within my waistcoat pocket—not because my sense of you might dim, but because the sight of those words—I love you—in your own hand will never fail to bring light to my soul. I feel them branded upon my very heart.
Yours completely, Edward

Gerard de Lacey is determined to find the man who tried to blackmail his late father, both to stop the blackmail and to discover—and dispose of—any evidence the villain has about his father’s clandestine first marriage. If that proof is made public, it could prove Gerard and his brothers illegitimate, and strip them of their inheritance. And just in case, Gerard intends to find himself a wealthy bride. One way or another, he’s not going to be left destitute. But he’s not expecting a rich widow to find him and ask him to marry her. Katherine Howe’s first marriage was one of dreary duty, arranged by her wealthy father to a penniless lord. Now that she’s being pressured to marry her late husband’s heir, she’s desperately in search of a better option. Gerard de Lacey, with his sinful good looks, charming manner, and looming scandal fits her needs perfectly. The fact that she’s nursed a secret affection for him for years only makes it better—and worse. Because Gerard will marry her, for her fortune—but will he love her for herself, as she loves him?

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you’ve made your plans and are looking forward to the big day. But if you are not, if you hate Valentine’s Day, know you are not alone. The heroine from my new book, The Rogue Pirate’s Bride, is not a fan of Valentine’s Day either. In fact, Raeven isn’t much of a fan of Bastien, my hero. She’s an admiral’s daughter and hates pirates, Bastien in particular. She’d rather kill him than kiss him, and she has good reason. Bastien wouldn’t mind kissing Raeven, and he has been known to take a liberty or two. But what do you expect from a rogue pirate? I managed to turn up some scraps of “love” letters between these two. I hope you enjoy!
The Love Letter:
Adapted from Gammer Gurton's Garland, a 1784 collection of English nursery rhymes
The rose is red, the violet's blue,
My sword is sharp, I’ll run it straight through you.
Thou are my enemy and I am thine;
I spit upon your Valentine:
You killed my fiancé, my dearest love,
And now off the plank, I’ll give you a shove.

Forgiveness is unthinkable, but it may be her only hope… British Admiral’s daughter Raeven Russell believes Bastien responsible for her fiancé’s death. But once the fiery beauty crosses swords with Bastien, she’s not so sure she really wants him to change his wicked ways…

From the file of love letters that were never sent: The Duke of Wycliff to Miss Eliza Fielding From the assorted papers found behind that locked door in Wycliff House...
Eliza, I ought to write to you about dusting the library or polishing the crystals in the second floor sconces, or making the bed in the master chamber after... I ought not write to you at all.
But I am a Wicked Wycliff and thus cannot be bothered with what I should or shouldn’t do. I want what I want and I let nothing stand in my way. Not even you and your secrets dear Eliza.
I have traveled round the world. Of all the places I have been and all the places I have seen, none have intrigued me, transfixed me, obsessed me as you. Of all the people in London and the world over, you, my housemaid, are the one who understands me best. Unless you are not a housemaid after all?
Tempted, tortured, yours, --Sebastian

Sebastian Digby’s dukely lifestyle is over forever unless he finds a rich bride. But thanks to The London Weekly, everyone knows better than to tangle with this lothario. Besides (as one writer can testify), it seems that Sebastian has been unable to keep his hands of his own lowly housemaid…
And that’s a problem. A big one.
Because that housemaid just happens to be me. Eliza Fielding. The same undercover Writing Girl who’s been exposing the Duke’s most intimate secrets to the world. And now I’ve gone and complicated everything by falling love with him. Passion and deception have never been so delicious, but now the truth could destroy everything. Theresa Romain holds degrees in psychology, English literature, and history, an impractical education that allowed her to read everything she could get her hands on. Her historical romance debut, SEASON FOR TEMPTATION, was published in October 2011. The sequel, SEASON FOR SURRENDER, will be published in October 2012. Theresa lives with her family in the Midwest.
In my historical romance debut, SEASON FOR TEMPTATION, a viscount seeks a marriage of convenience to help his family overcome a recent scandal. What he never expected to find was a most inconvenient love.
These letters are exchanged by the hero and heroine, James and Julia, two months after their marriage at the end of SEASON FOR TEMPTATION.
Letter from Julia, Viscountess Matheson, to James, Viscount Matheson, written the day after his missive to her. Folded inside a blank paper and left on the desk in his private study.
The Love Letter:
Dearest James, The way to a woman’s heart is through her stomach, is that right? It’s certainly true for me, and has been so ever since we first met over a tea table. Though the way to my heart was also through laughter, and so I’m delighted that two of your gifts had to do with food, and one of them with unladylike speech. I’ve already read some of the little book you gave me, and I’m sure my face was redder than a coal as I learned that “tickle tail” and “arbor vitae” mean the same thing, and such an intriguing thing it is.
And now, a bit of an apology for spoiling your lovely surprise. You must be wondering why I didn’t eat up the plum pudding after dinner, but simply fell asleep in an undignified heap (is there any other sort? Not for me) in an armchair before the fire.
You might also be wondering why simply looking at the watercress sandwiches made me feel ill.
You are possibly wondering whether I have a gift for you in return?
Indeed I do. You know how efficient I like to be in household matters. Therefore I have one present for you, and it answers all the questions I have stated. But you can’t have it yet. Not for about seven more months.
I’m glad you’re so much more patient than I.
Your loving wife, Julia

ONE CHOICE…

Pledged to one sister, yet captivated by another, what is he to do? She has also written erotic romance as Jess Michaels and runs a popular resource for romance writers called The Passionate Pen. My 2008 release, LESSONS FROM A COURTESAN was one of my very favorite books to write, so revisiting the main characters after several years of marriage and the birth of a baby they both longed for was a lot of fun. I pictured them beind separated by a poorly timed storm and each writing a letter on the same day, like ships passing in the night. I hope you enjoy this revisit of Victoria and Justin as much as I did.
The Love Letter:
February 14, 1819 London
Dearest Victoria, I begin this letter with a most sincere apology. I had every intention of making it home to the estate for this day, but the weather and the delays in our project have thwarted me at every turn. I must say, though, I thrill at the idea of no longer being idle, but being a true part in the expansion of our city and our Empire. Victoria, you should see Caleb. Not only does he thrive with this project, but his closeness with his half-brothers and their wives gives me great joy. Marah sends her love, as well. She is swollen with child now, and glows with happiness.
Of course, being around these very happily married people makes my mind turn with many thoughts. Foremost is the nagging pain of how much we lost during the years we were apart. How could I have not seen how happy we could be during those years? I wake during the night and still ask myself that question.
But then I think of our lives together now. I think of watching you wake in our bed in the morning, or hold our son to your breast, I think of your laughter and the way you shiver when I touch you. Perhaps if our history was different, I wouldn’t appreciate those things as the gift they are. I know our future is going to trump our past in every way. I know it as much as I know that you are the most beautiful woman I know or have ever known.
And now I gush, which I’m sure you will tease me about when I reach you. And I will repeat all my praise to you then, as well as show you how much I adore you. Until then, I remain
Yours, Justin

Heather Snow is a historical romance writer with a degree in Chemistry who found she much preferred creating chemistry on the page, rather than in the lab! She is forever trying to wrangle her left and right brain to work together (some days with more success than others!), but if her two sides had to duke it out, left would win every time--which can be a creative challenge. Luckily, she loves challenges...she just goes about solving them analytically.
She lives with her husband and two sons in the Midwest and truly hopes you find her stories have just the right chemistry...
Written by Liliana Wentworth, née Claremont, Countess of Stratford, to her husband—upon the birth of their daughter, some seven and one half months after the Epilogue…
The Love Letter:
Dearest Geoffrey, I find myself overcome with emotion as I sit here in the stillness of the night… I’ve just finished nursing our precious daughter and she is now tucked back snug in her cradle. Aunt will likely have plenty to say over the unusual nature of me choosing to suckle our baby myself, but when have I ever been conventional? How fortunate I am to have you in my life, who encourages me to be only who I am.
As I watch you sleep, the firelight glinting off of your ebony hair like flashes of lightning in a pitch black sky, my chest aches with love for you. As a scientist, I understand that there is some physiological reaction in a woman’s body after she gives birth that makes her feel overwhelming love, as well as a deep sense of contentment. I suspect it is so that she bonds with her newborn. Perhaps, one day, we may even discover what causes such phenomena. But I also know that whatever this rare wonder is, it is not the reason I am moved nearly to tears as I look upon you.
While there are many, many reasons I love you, my darling, tonight I am most grateful for one—that our daughter will have a father who will respect her. One who will encourage and support her in anything she chooses to do with her life. One who will not expect her to conform to society’s idea of what a female should be. One who will appreciate whatever gifts she possesses, and who will guide her to use those gifts for the greater good. One who will be her launching pad, as my father was for me when he was alive…and as you are for me now.
I miss my father, tonight. I regret that our daughter will never know him. But I know that he would be proud that I’ve chosen so well in a husband—a man who treasures his daughter as he did. A man who deserves my love.
And you have it, always… Liliana

SWEET ENEMY
A Veiled Seduction Novel ~Book One
"Historical intrigue and heart-pounding passion make Sweet Enemy a great read. Romance fans will love it." -#1 NYT Bestselling Author JULIE GARWOOD
Geoffrey Wentworth, a war hero and rising political star, never wanted to be the Earl, but when his brother dies, he knows his duty—take up the responsibility for his family’s estates. His mother’s definition of duty differs from his, however, and can be summed up in one word—heirs. When Geoffrey rushes home to answer her urgent summons, he finds himself host to a house full of women, all vying to become the next Countess of Stratford. But his love is Parliament, where he wields his influence and reputation to better the lives of ex-soldiers, until a tempting houseguest and a secret from his past threaten his freedom…and his heart.
Liliana Claremont, a brilliant chemist, doesn’t want to be any man’s wife, much less a Countess. If she had tuppence for every time she’d been told her place was filling the nursery, not experimenting in the laboratory, she could buy the Tower Bridge. However, when she receives a coveted invitation to the Earl’s house party, she trades in her beakers for ball gowns and gladly takes on the guise of husband hunter—for the chance to uncover what the Earl had to do with the murder of her father.

Love letters have definitely gone out of fashion. Somehow love emails just don’t have the same zing. In Regency times, people spent hours writing letters. Several of my couples communicated by letter with each other in my books, but I decided to pick a couple that didn’t write to each other. Couldn’t. For the hero Desmond Ryland, Marquess of Conover was married to someone else and wandering the globe to escape from his miserable marriage. His true love Laurette was attempting to live a virtuous life without him. Here’s what they might have written when their hearts were full of longing.
The Love Letter:
Dearest Laurie, Do you know I write to you every week? Of course you don’t, because I never send the letters. Sometimes I tell you what I’ve seen; sometimes I tell you what is in my heart, This letter is both.
Tonight our group was crowded into the room reserved for travelers in Atleek. There was barely room to turn around, so I wandered down to the waterfront. The men stayed and prayed that the drought that has so devastated Syria would end, making a vow not to return to their homes and harems until it was so. We saw a solemn procession in Jerusalem dedicated to this fervent hope as well led by the Aga himself. The conditions here are unbearable.
I could not help but compare the crop failure and hunger of the local people to the summer of 1808. Our summer. What seemed such a calamity to me at nineteen is revealed now to be not half so dire as what has befallen the population here. I have seen children’s bodies on the streets and heard the wailing of their mothers from behind the walls.
I know I am doing to my own son what my grandfather did to me. I believe I have mastered the fury I felt towards my uncle and the Berrymans some years ago. My pride had been nicked, my love for you thwarted. And I have seen too much of the world now to imagine myself at the center of the universe.
I listen to the wash of the waves. An obligatory crescent moon hangs from the purple sky. I’ve had seen the remains of ancient cities, roofless ruins scattered in the desert sand. Nothing lasts, save the indecipherable inscriptions that excites William so, and my feelings for you. The world here is in turmoil, as it had been for thousands of years. And here I stand, removed from my own life, my bones baked by day by the relentless sun, my nights chilled by loneliness.
The evening call to prayer echoes in the town. I will drop to my knees, my head touching the sand. My prayers are always the same and have yet to be answered.
All my love, Con
