When her father's wingman, James Cahill, asks to go with her, she's not thrilled…even if he is fairly gorgeous and knows his way around a toolbox.

Having to fend for herself financially for the first time in her life, Parker signs on as a florist's assistant and starts to find out who she really is. Maybe James isn't the glib lawyer she always thought he was. And maybe the house isn't the only thing that needs a little TLC….

Dashiell Matthews, Viscount Carrington, remembers little of Miss Elena Barnes beyond her slight build, mousy character, and bookish ways. Her unavoidable presence at Carrington House would be inconvenient, true, but a woman could hardly prove enough of a distraction to interfere with what was the most important case of Dash’s life—ferreting out the monster who’d murdered a dear friend’s mother many year before.

Dash would, of course, live to regret such an assumption.

As for Elena, a trip to London to retrieve a priceless book is troublesome, though not nearly as much as the feelings the viscount inspires in her. His touch elicits feelings from Elena that she’d only ever read about. Her skin tingles. Lord Hardwicke is as handsome as she remembered—actually, more so as he’d grown into his frame in a rather attractive manner—and as dim as a ha’penny tallow. Or is he? The more time Elena spends with the man, the greater her suspicions grow regarding his intellect and just what he might be up to as they’re thrown together in the search for an individual known only as the Rook.

The Love Letter:

Dear Mr. Darcett,

I will not give you leave to address me so intimately. For your information, I do not believe for an instant that you have a poor sense of direction. After all, you raked your way across the Continent for many years. As for your reference to your nephew, I am appalled, though hardly surprised, at your singular lack of gentility. You are, after all, known as the devil ….

Oh, dear, is this another letter from Mr. Darcett? (rips it open).
(Amy unfolds the letter and reads it.) I cannot believe he is apologizing and so eloquently as well. Oh, goodness, he sent a dozen roses, too. Drat it all. I should know better than to fall for his wiles. But he is so witty, and he did admire my gown. And when he gazed at me last night while we were dancing, my knees were weak. Oh, gracious, have I lost my mind. The man was probably mentally undressing me. He has no scruples whatsoever, but his latest letter of apology does sound sincere. And the little Valentine is so sweet…

(Starts letter again)

Dear Mr. Darcett:
I thank you very much for your second letter of apology for last night’s debacle. The roses from your mother’s hot house are beautiful (and rest assured there is no disgusting odor lingering on them). I admit to having enjoyed our dance last night, but it was wrong of you to attempt to take me into that dark, deserted music room. However, I will forgive you this one time. I hope that this is a sign you are reforming your wicked ways.
For the record, it is inappropriate for you to address me in a familiar manner as you are well aware. We are likely to meet again since we have mutual friends, so I trust that you will abide by the proprieties in the future. (Privately thinks that would be a miracle.) My best wishes for your future happiness.
Sincerely,
Amy Hardwick

A CHRISTMAS WAGER
By Vicky Dreiling

Rosehill Abbey, 1816

Lady Josephine Marston leaned closer to Justin Greystone, the Earl of Ravenwood. “I will win this wager,” she said. “By Christmas, our friends will be madly in love.”

Justin Greystone, the Earl of Ravenwood, scoffed. “You fancy yourself a matchmaker, but you would do well not to meddle.”

“It’s Christmas. What could be more romantic? Miss Parker and Mr. Faraday only need a little nudge in the right direction,” Josephine said. Really, Justin was older and more experienced in the world, but when it came to matters of the heart, he was hopelessly inept.

“Josie, you have always tried to influence others, but this is none of your affair.”

“You must trust me.” She unfurled her fan and surreptitiously surveyed the room. Miss Parker sat near the pianoforte while Mr. Faraday was practically miles away at the fireplace. “We must bring them together. I’ll ask Miss Parker to play while you encourage Mr. Faraday to turn the pages.”

“And help you win our wager?” Justin said. “I think not. You, my dear, will submit to my kiss on Christmas day.”

“You’re awfully sure of yourself,” Josie said. A very secret part of her wondered what it would be like to kiss Justin. Their families had been close for ages, but it wasn’t until recently that Josie had begun to feel differently about Justin. There were times when she yearned to be closer to him, and on occasion, she caught him looking at her in a most peculiar fashion, as if he were spellbound. But then he would say something ridiculous, and all the fluttery feelings in Josie’s bosom would dissipate. But she didn’t want him to kiss her because of the wager. If they were to kiss at all, she wanted it to be because he was overcome with tender feeling. Josie almost snorted, a most unladylike thing to do.

To keep herself in check, she looked about the room once again and realized what was missing. “We have no mistletoe,” she said. “How can it be Christmas without mistletoe?”

Justin gave her a mischievous look. “Shall we make an expedition to find mistletoe?”

Josie’s father, the Duke of Dartborough chuckled. “That’s a splendid idea. Miss Parker and Mr. Faraday, do lend a hand.”

“Miss Parker and I must don our wraps first,” Josie said. Then she winked at Justin. “I will win this wager,” she said under her breath, “and when I do, you must kiss my feet on Christmas Day.”

***

Justin wished there was enough snow so that he could throw a snowball at Josie. Faraday was a good sport about having to squire Miss Parker about, but the man had to know that he was being pressured.

“You’re not even looking for mistletoe,” Josie said. “Where is your Christmas spirit?”

“I am looking for mistletoe, but I’ve not seen any.” He looked at Josie’s rosy cheeks and impish smile and his chest tightened. He’d suggested the ridiculous wager, because he’d not been able to think of any other way to steal a kiss without losing face. But now he wished he’d never suggested it in the first place. Blast it all. Why had he developed these feelings for Josie of all women? But he had, and now he couldn’t get rid of them.

Josie pulled on his arm and urged him behind a tree. “Look. Mr. Faraday is pointing at the tree. He found mistletoe. Do you suppose they will kiss?”

Justin drew nearer to her and trapped her with his hands against the tree. Her breath and his frosted in the cold air, but he very much wanted to kiss her. As he angled his head, her eyes started to drift closed.

Then Faraday’s voice rang out triumphantly. “We found mistletoe!”

Justin silently cursed the interruption and stepped back. “Our mission is complete.”

“Yes, it is,” Josie said.

Was that disappointment he heard in her voice?”

#

It was well after midnight, but Josie knew she wasn’t the only creature stirring as she padded toward the drawing room where the mistletoe hung. As she neared the open doors, she saw that a man stood before the dying coals. “Justin?” she whispered.

He whirled round. “Josie, what are you doing here in your nightclothes?”

“I heard a noise.” She wasn’t about to move out from underneath the mistletoe and miss this opportunity.

He strode toward her. “You should go to bed. It wouldn’t do at all for someone to find us here alone.”

She moistened her lips. “Justin, look up.”

“I don’t have to.” Then he took her in his arms and kissed her tenderly. “Josie, I won the wager.”

She cupped his cheek and smiled. “No, Justin. You won me, long ago.”

“Merry Christmas, my love,” he said.

June 14th- My Godmama of Romance is back! Johanna Lindsey will be hitting the shelves this month with a book straight from a fairy tale! Persuaded by her guardian to return to their homeland to quell a bloody revolt, Alana finds herself in an isolated, mountainous country whose customs strike her as medieval!
With controversy and intrigue brewing around the beautiful newcomer, Christoph Becker, the captain of the palace guards, arrests Alana on suspicion that she is either a wily imposter or a seductive spy working for the shadowy figures determined to depose the king. No stranger himself to seduction, Christoph uses every means at his disposal to draw the truth from his alluring prisoner, even if he must lay his own life on the line to protect her from harm.

'The Angel In My Arms' by Stefanie Sloane

Injured in the line of duty, Young Corinthian agent Marcus Maxwell, the Earl of Weston, travels to his country estate to recover—or so he believes. His superior’s request that he investigate a smuggling ring run by Napoleon sympathizers seems ridiculous at first, but then becomes all-too threatening as pieces of a treacherous puzzle begin to fall into place. And the most troubling piece of all is Miss Sarah Tisdale, an unconventional beauty whose lust for life is rivaled only by her ability to drive Marcus to distraction. When her family comes under suspicion, Marcus must watch her very, very closely…even if her touch ignites the deep, fiery desire burning just beneath his cool façade.

When it comes to suitors, Sarah’s lush curves and perfectly kissable lips aren’t enough to compensate for her outspoken and willful nature. Sarah’s tasted disappointment before, and she long ago decided that she’s better off without an overbearing husband. Still, flirting with the sinfully handsome Marcus is a pastime worth savoring—even when it leads to wicked pleasures. But when Sarah’s life is in jeopardy, Marcus discovers that the fire between them can no longer be denied—and that he’ll do anything to keep her in his arms.

Living for pleasure, they will give their hearts to no one.

Lady Jayne Seymour, Marchioness of Walfort, is furious that such a scandalous agreement would be made. If she acquiesces, there must be rules: no kissing . . . and, certainly, no pleasure.

But unexpected things occur with the surprisingly tender duke—especially once Lady Jayne discovers the rogue can make her dream again . . . and Ransom realizes he's found the one woman he truly cannot live without. Source

Read an excerpt: here
Lady Julianne Gatewick is in a pickle. It started when her brother’s best friend—for whom she’s long nursed a secret tendre—agreed to act as her guardian for the Season, only to seduce her with a risqué waltz.
But when the music stopped and the expectant ton waited for the Earl of Hawkfield to claim her as his own, he made his disinterest clear. Rather than succumb to humiliation, Julianne does what any recently discarded, wickedly witty young miss would do. She secretly pens a lady’s guide to enticing unrepentant rakes . . . and it becomes the hottest scandal in London.
Every honorable rake knows that friends’ sisters are forbidden. But suddenly Julianne has a spark of mischief in her eyes that Hawk can’t resist.
